We Moved to the Westside!

New Home, Same Love

We are thrilled to announce that, as of August 2024, Open Hand has moved to a new home on the Westside! Our new campus is located at 1380 West Marietta Street, Atlanta, GA 30318.

Our new facility in the Grove Park neighborhood next to Westside Park will allow us to triple production to meet the growing demand for our services and better deliver love, dignity, and nutrition statewide.

 

Features of Our New Home

  • A 43,000 sq. feet campus with 8 loading docks, giving us an additional 17,000 sq. feet and 7 loading docks for our meals to be cooked, packaged, and delivered with love.

  • Larger cold storage and warehouse space - a 75% and 100% increase respectively - meaning we're able to bring in more high-quality ingredients that our caring, professional chefs can cook into medically tailored meals.

  • New refrigerated cargo vans and one new 25 foot refrigerated truck, with the goal of growing our delivery capacity from 25,000 to nearly 40,000 meals weekly over time.

  • A state-of-the-art community teaching kitchen for nutrition education classes, hosted by our expert Cooking Matters instructors and Registered Dietitian Nutritionists.

  • A new programmatic effort and launch of Open Hand’s culinary training workforce development program, named after our former beloved executive director Stephen Woods. The program will provide at-risk members of the community access to job training and employment opportunities in a culinary and warehouse setting.

Our Clients

Our number one priority is always our clients and those we serve.

We are preparing nearly 70,000 meals in advance, and our team is working hard to ensure that this move will not interrupt services for our clients who rely on us for their daily nutrition. Our relocation to a larger, better-equipped facility will give Open Hand the capacity to serve even more at-risk neighbors who need our services, broaden our reach across Georgia, and deliver thousands of additional medically tailored meals each day.

We can’t wait to show you our new home.

We began as neighbors nourishing neighbors back in 1988, and that’s still who we are today as we continue to grow. In our new home we’ve created a dedicated (and functional!) volunteer lobby and training room. We pride ourselves in providing a wonderful volunteer experience, and are thrilled to be able to improve that experience even further in our new space. Be on the lookout in the coming weeks for a special, volunteers-only sneak preview of our campus, including a tour of our volunteer wing, packing room, and more! Be sure to check back on this page, our socials, or your emails for further details on final shifts at 181 Armour Drive and when our first shifts at 1380 West Marietta Street are available for sign-ups.
