Group Nutrition Education
The following evidence-based classes are taught by our experienced nutrition educators and are available both in-person and virtually throughout the state of Georgia. For more information please view our full menu of services, or reach out to Laura Samnadda, Director of Nutrition Services, via email.
Nutrition Presentation
Available with or without a healthy cooking demonstration, these one-hour sessions cover topics such as snacks, sleep habits, foods from around the world, and more. Topics can be requested in advance, and can be bundled together to create a wellness series.
Produce Prescription Program
Partnering with clinical and healthcare organizations, we work to improve health outcomes for patients dealing with food insecurity and chronic disease through nutrition education classes and weekly produce box deliveries. Classes are offered for 3 or 6 months with weekly produce box deliveries and our hands-on Nutrition Education Series, followed by monthly reunion check-ins.
Nutrition Education Series
These multi-session class series focus on teaching skills to improve cooking, eating, and shopping habits. Includes nutrition lessons and hands-on cooking skills training. Participants will cook meals together and receive nutrition handouts, recipes, and graduation gifts to bolster their education.
Healthy Retail Demonstration
Focuses on teaching participants about smart shopping skills, using MyPlate and nutrition facts labels to build healthy meals, and how to identify whole foods and added sugars while shopping. Can be conducted at a grocery store as an interactive tour, or we can bring the grocery store experience to you.
Youth Programs
We offer a six-week Nutrition Education Series to youth aged 5-17, teaching them the skills to choose healthy meals and snacks, eat from each food group, and safely prepare basic foods. Meals and/or snacks are provided at each lesson. Additionally, we provide a Farm to Early Care and Education program for Atlanta ECE sites with Harvest of the Month produce boxes and in-classroom nutrition education. Technical assistance is also provided to improve the meals, snacks, and programming provided to children and their families around healthy eating and food procurement.
Self-Management Workshop
These workshops empower participants and caregivers to be an active partner in their healthcare. Participants engage with certified leaders and learn techniques to deal with stress, pain, and fatigue, strategies to eat well and exercise safely, and more. Each workshop is 6 weeks and is available either online or in-person. We currently have workshops available to those dealing with chronic disease, chronic disease in the workplace, and diabetes.
