In my newsletter columns, I typically focus on the impact Open Hand has on the lives of our clients. For this particular column, I want to share an important step we’re taking to improve the overall efficiency of our operations. Through key technological advancement, we will see tremendous outcomes that will help us work better as we continue to grow.
Open Hand is excited to be moving to a new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system called Aptean this spring. Aptean will unify our current in-house hosted production software—which manages functions like inventory and ordering on the operations side—with our accounting software systems into one, single cloud-hosted solution.
The interface will provide a simple collaboration and decision-making solution and be accessible in a number of ways, including hand-held inventory scanners, production tablets, label printers, laptops, and mobile devices. In other words, staff across our campus will have streamlined access to the system so we can make key decisions with easy access to all the information needed.
When launched, this new system will provide:
-
Seamless client/center order fulfillment
-
Inventory tracking improvements
-
Enhanced food safety traceability
-
Will allow our accounting team to produce and analyze financial reports much quicker than can be done currently
I’m proud that Open Hand is known for our innovation and our ability to always be focused on efficiency within our very sophisticated operations. Utilizing and implementing technological advancements such as Aptean have allowed us to become one of the largest providers of home delivered meals and nutrition education in the country, and the largest in the Southeast. We have come a long way from the early days when we lovingly prepared meals in a church kitchen.
Open Hand is looking forward to launching Aptean as it will help support long-term growth of our mission and our ability to serve more individuals in need.
