Our volunteers are still the heart of Open Hand.
COVID-19 UPDATE FOR 2021
Open Hand Atlanta will continue to suspend volunteer meal packing through Q1 2021. We will have limited opportunities on campus in building utility (helping outside to pack driver cars with meals for delivery). Our biggest need continues to be client meal delivery Monday-Friday. To get set up, please pick your date and start time at openhandatlanta.volunteerhub.com.
WE SINCERELY APPRECIATE THE OUTPOURING OF SUPPORT WE HAVE RECEIVED DURING THIS TIME. WE COULDN’T DO THIS WITHOUT YOU!
If you are volunteering as an individual, there are several volunteer opportunities available for you. If you plan to volunteer with friends or family, each individual will need to reserve your space for the same opportunity. (Please see note below in reference to age restrictions). If you have a group of 5 or more, please click on Group Volunteers.
To schedule your volunteer opportunity, simply click on Individual Volunteers and select your opportunity from the drop-down menu. If slots still remain for the opportunity and date you have selected, you will be able to sign in or sign up if you have not yet registered. If the specific opportunity/date you have chosen is not available, it will be marked as full. In that case, you will see other opportunities that are available on the date you have chosen, or you can choose another date or opportunity altogether.
The volunteer opportunities available for individuals include:
- Meal Packing
- Meal Delivery
- Market Basket Packing
- Culinary Assistance
- Cooler Bag Packing
- Special Events
- Administrative Support
Community Service: If you are completing court-ordered community service hours, you must first complete Community Service Orientation. Please click here to view the orientation schedule and sign up.
Age and Chaperone Requirements: Minors participating in Client Meal Packing must be at least 16 years old. Minors participating in Client Market Basket Assembly must be at least 9 years old. Every minor under the age of 18 MUST bring along a waiver signed by their parent or guardian.
