Our kitchen and packing area is the Grand Central of Open Hand. As you would imagine, with nearly 5,500 meals to prepare, package and deliver every day, the atmosphere is electric. But it’s not all work — the music is always on, and the friendly banter among new friends never ceases. It all makes for a very memorable and rewarding experience.
Packing involves portioning food into individual containers and snack bags on our packing assembly line. This is a great project for individuals and families, and a great team-building exercise for school, business and church groups!
Age and Chaperone Requirements: You must be at least 11 years of age or older to pack meals. Ages 15 and under must be accompanied by an adult. The starting age for group volunteers is age 14, so long as they are accompanied by one adult for every 7 children. Parents will need to make accounts for each child under 18 years old and sign the minor waiver electronically in the sign up process. >> Click here to create an account.
