Meal Packing

COVID-19 UPDATE FOR AUGUST

AS OF 8/10/20, OHA WILL OFFER LIMITED OPPORTUNITIES FOR INDIVIDUALS ON CAMPUS IN MEAL PACKING, PICKING & BUILDING UTILITY MONDAY-FRIDAY. AT THIS TIME, LARGE GROUPS ARE ENCOURAGED TO TAKE PART IN OUR MEAL DELIVERY OPPORTUNITIES, ALSO AVAILABLE MONDAY-FRIDAY.

WE SINCERELY APPRECIATE THE OUTPOURING OF SUPPORT WE HAVE RECEIVED DURING THIS TIME. WE COULDN’T DO THIS WITHOUT YOU!

Our kitchen and packing area is the Grand Central of Open Hand. As you would imagine, with nearly 5,000 meals to prepare, package and deliver every day, the atmosphere is electric. But it’s not all work — the music is always on, and the friendly banter among new friends never ceases. It all makes for a very memorable and rewarding experience.

Packing involves portioning food into individual containers and snack bags on our packing assembly line. This is a great project for individuals and families, and a great team-building exercise for school, business and church groups!

Age and Chaperone Requirements: Minors participating in Meal Packing must be at least 16 years old. Minors participating in Market Basket Assembly must be at least 9 years old. Every minor under the age of 18 MUST bring along a waiver signed by their parent or guardian. Parents will need to make accounts for each child under 18 years old and sign the minor waiver electronically in the sign up process. >> Click here to create an account.

Safety First: For the safety of our clients and our volunteers, the dress and health codes will be strictly enforced.
